Birmingham woke up to a snow-covered city today as the Met Office issued a yellow warning for snow, which will later turn into rain. The heavy snowfall caused chaos for people heading to work and school, with some schools closing. However, some parents complained that the schools informed them very late and sent their kids back home in the middle of heavy snow.

According to the Met Office, the snow was unsettled, and a further band of rain, sleet, and snow moved northwards through the day, making it difficult for people to travel. The temperature dropped to -1°C, making it even more challenging for people to venture out.

The weather forecast for Friday is somewhat better, with the rain, sleet, and snow gradually clearing up in the morning, providing a drier and brighter day with a few snow flurries. However, people are advised to be cautious as there will be lighter winds and a widespread frost overnight, leading to icy stretches on the roads.

Overall, the weather conditions have caused significant disruptions in the city, making it difficult for people to go about their daily routine. The authorities are advising everyone to stay indoors and avoid any unnecessary travel until the weather conditions improve.
