Libraries across Birmingham will start to re-open this month for an order and collect service.
Opening dates will vary depending on local conditions, with the Library of Birmingham opening on Wednesday 5 August.
A small number of community libraries will also open for order and collect this week, with others following in the next two weeks. Please check individual libraries for information.
People will need to place an order online or by calling a library offering the service.
Once the order is confirmed customers will be given a slot to collect their books. Protective measures will be in place to ensure the safety of staff and public and we would remind residents of new government rules on wearing face-coverings.
The Library of Birmingham telephone enquiry line 0121 242 4242 will be open Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm and email enquiries (enquiries@libraryofbirmingham.com) will be checked regularly with most answered within 24 hours. While library staff on phones will be there to deal with questions related to the order and collect service they will be very happy to respond to all other library-related enquiries.
Cllr Jayne Francis, cabinet member for education, skills and culture, said: “It is wonderful to have our libraries opening up, even though it will be a reduced service initially. I’d like to thank staff for their hard work in making this possible and would reassure our library-users of the safety measures in place to protect everyone. We’ll be announcing the next stage of re-opening as soon as we can but in the meantime, happy reading.”
