Birmingham Man Charged with Attempted Murder After 15-Year-Old Boy Stabbed; Two Teens Arrested in Ongoing Investigation

A 21-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Birmingham that left a 15-year-old boy hospitalized. The attack occurred on Friday, March 7, in the vicinity of Morris Park. Emergency services were called to Alum Rock Road, near the junction with College Road, at approximately 8:45 p.m. after paramedics reported the incident.

Idris Urfan, a resident of Birmingham, was arrested on Saturday, March 8, and has since been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife. He was remanded in custody and appeared before Birmingham Magistrates on Sunday, March 10.

In a further development, police have arrested two additional suspects—a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old—on suspicion of attempted murder. Both teenagers are currently in custody and will be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.

The 15-year-old victim remains in the hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and are appealing to the public for assistance. They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant footage, including mobile phone, CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam recordings.
