Birmingham officers have helped honor local lady Lilian’s 100th birthday by sending cards and even delivering a hand painting by one of our very own cops.

Earlier this year, a member of staff at Heartlands care and nursing home in Birmingham where Lilian lives, sent out a social media plea asking for cards or well wishes to celebrate the milestone event, as the pensioner has no close family.

Immediately our caring cops saw the opportunity to do something nice for her and sent the message around to local teams.

Ahead of her birthday today (13 February), officers have dropped cards off at the care home, with the officer and budding artist, PC Alan Davis creating a beautiful watercolor painting of Acocks Green police station which was hand-delivered today for Lilian’s special day.

Police have seen that Lilian has been truly spoilt with cards and kind messages, with the care home receiving almost 9,000 cards from around the world.

Inspector Simon Graham from Stechford Police said: “To be part of marking a milestone 100th birthday for a local lady was really special to us and an opportunity we could not let pass.

“I saw the appeal on social media and sought the support of my teams. They all jumped at the opportunity to write cards from all the staff, with many getting creative, including PC Alan Davis who took the time to create his very own painting.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone, and this really is a great opportunity to give something back to our valued community and attempt to raise spirits again.”

Lilian, from everyone here at West Midlands Police, we hope you have a really special and Happy 100th Birthday.
