Police have been granted a closure order for a business that was causing anti-social behaviour problems in a community in Birmingham.
Officers have successfully been granted the closure order for Hayat Convenience Store in Coventry Road, Small Heath, where alleged drug use and disorder were taking place.
The owner of the business has also been fined court costs totalling £2,400.
Police said:
Our officers listened to the concerns of residents in the community and working alongside partners including trading standards we have taken action. We applied for a closure order which was granted at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday Wednesday (May 3).
PC Ellis Hancock, from the Washwood Heath neighbourhood team, based at Nechells said:
“This property was a source of significant distress for many in the Small Heath community.
“We received numerous complaints regarding anti-social behaviour, and in response, we worked alongside our partners, including trading standards, to take decisive action.
“We’re pleased to report that a closure order was successfully obtained through the courts this morning. Our hope is that this will significantly improve the quality of life for residents who have been negatively impacted by the anti-social behaviour originating from this property.”
