Eight Men Jailed for Brutal Armed Attack in Walsall – Sentenced to Nearly 120 Years

Eight men from Walsall have been jailed for a total of 118 years after a violent and planned attack involving guns and other weapons. The attack took place on Reedswood Lane , Walsall, just before midnight on 31 July 2024 .

The men were sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court after admitting to conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life .

The victims, five men sitting in a car, were ambushed when two other cars rammed into their vehicle. Armed attackers then struck with a gun, machetes, knives, baseball bats and cricket bats. A shot was fired at close range into the car, leaving the victims with serious and life-changing injuries . One victim was put into a coma, and others needed multiple surgeries.

Despite their injuries, the victims managed to drive to Walsall Manor Hospital for emergency help.


The attack was caught on CCTV , and West Midlands Police carried out a detailed investigation using video footage and phone tracking to identify those involved.

Sentences:

  • Amar Shazhad , 37, of Victor Street – 17 years
  • Hezar Iyaiz , 20, of Alumwell Road – 17 years
  • Mohammed Sajid , 38, of Exeter Place – 16 years
  • Kamran Moore , 22, of Deepmore Avenue – 16 years
  • Shazad Mahmood , 34, of Drayton Street – 17 years
  • Khurum Sajad , 23, of Hucker Road – 16 years
  • Waheed Ayub , 28, of Westbourne Street – 17 years
  • Umar Saddique , 29 – 2 years (for assisting an offender)

Police are still looking for Amar Khan , 40, also known as Adam Barzini , in connection with this case.

Statement from Detective Inspector Francis Nock:

“This was a shocking and violent attack. Weapons and a firearm were used, causing life-threatening injuries. These long sentences send a clear message – violence like this will not be tolerated on our streets.”
