Starting in April, 24 schools in Birmingham will participate in the government’s new free breakfast club scheme, aimed at helping families save up to £450 annually while ensuring children start their school day with a nutritious meal. This initiative is part of a national roll-out benefiting 180,000 pupils across England, particularly supporting those in deprived areas.

These schools will offer “healthy, varied and nutritious breakfasts” along with 30 minutes of free childcare, assisting parents with early drop-offs. The programme is part of the government’s Plan for Change, aiming to enhance children’s behaviour, attendance, and academic performance while combating child poverty.
