Jess Phillips has been re-elected as the MP for Yardley by a narrow margin of just 689 votes, narrowly beating Workers Party candidate Jody McIntyre.

Ms Phillips described it as the “worst election [she] had ever faced,” noting that one of her supporters had their tyres slashed while canvassing.

After her re-election, she posted on X, expressing gratitude to her supporters:
“I want to say thank you to the hundreds of envelope stuffers, leafleters, doorknockers, phone bankers, cake bakers, tea makers, endorsers & moral supporters. To all who cooked my family and I dinner throughout the campaign, to all who opened homes for meetings & to all who came. Haven’t had a minute to stop and think until this moment but my Mom, one of the greatest socialists, most practical feminist and kindest, cleverest woman I will ever know died 13 years ago today. She would have been delighted to see the Tories taught a lesson. I miss her.”
