A man has been jailed for 15 years for raping a woman in Birmingham.

Abdullah Alnamer, of Stadium Road, Birmingham, took advantage of a woman in the early hours of 23 January, 2022.

The woman – who was in her early 20s – had separated from friends following a night out in the city centre where he then approached her, and tried to entice her into his vehicle.

Al namer took advantage of the woman after following her in his car, encouraging her to join him, and the next morning she was found to have been sexually assaulted.

Alnamer then sold the vehicle used in the crime two days later.

However, following a lengthy and complex investigation including reviewing CCTV footage, along with forensic analysis, Police identified Al namer as the attacker.

Investigating officers then arrested the 35-year-old in March, 2023 – and he was charged with rape.

Alnamer pleaded not guilty but following a trial he was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court this February. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison yesterday (1 May).

It is important to note that survivors of rape are protected by law and have life-long anonymity.
