BIRMINGHAM, UK – A high-ranking member of a Midlands-based organised crime group has been sentenced to 15 years and six months in prison—despite going on the run before his trial.

Alexi Morgan, 30, from West Bromwich, was found guilty in his absence at Birmingham Crown Court on 23 April after a jury convicted him of multiple Class A drug supply charges.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) built its case using evidence from Operation Venetic, the UK’s response to the takedown of encrypted messaging platform EncroChat.

Investigators linked Morgan to the ‘Denzelboss’ handle, exposing his role in coordinating the large-scale distribution of cocaine and heroin across the West Midlands.

Messages uncovered by the NCA revealed Morgan’s brazen operations, including a £188,000 cash and 5kg cocaine exchange outside a primary school in Walsall in April 2020.

In total, he was tied to 27kg of Class A drugs—worth over £800,000 wholesale—flooding the region.

Morgan worked closely with Birmingham criminals Danyal Aziz, 30, and Michael Earp, 34, both jailed in 2023 for a combined 59 years for drug and firearms offences.

NCA Manhunt Underway
Despite his conviction, Morgan remains at large. The NCA has launched a public appeal for information on his whereabouts, warning he has links to West Midlands and Greater London.

Rick Mackenzie, NCA Senior Investigating Officer, said:
“Alexi Morgan was a key player in a high-harm crime group peddling deadly drugs. Our hunt to bring him into custody is ongoing—we urge anyone with information to come forward.”

How to Help
Anyone with details on Morgan’s location is urged to contact the NCA or Crimestoppers anonymously.
