WM Police recently asked everyone to send in suggested names for their future canine crime fighters. The response was brilliant and thousands of names were received. There were some great suggestions and WM Police said it was a tough decision whittling it down to just seven.

winning names: Royal, Doyle, Prayer, Angel, Florence, Hope and Rainbow.

The names we’ve chosen really capture the spirit of the NHS and the incredibly vital job they’re doing to help us through this pandemic. We wanted to say a BIG thank you to everyone who got involved to help us honour our carers and NHS staff.

A special mention has to go to our Chief Superintendent Phil Dolby who suggested Royal after received tremendous care from the staff at Worcestershire Royal Hospital while battling Covid-19.

We were also asked to name one of the puppies Doyle by a nurse from New Cross Hospital who sadly lost her father, who also worked for the NHS and West Midlands Police, to the disease.

The five week old puppies will soon go to the homes of their puppy walkers while also going through our world renowned puppy development programme with a view to being fully operational next year.
