Six people arrested following burglary at suspected cannabis farm

Six people have been arrested in Smethwick this morning (23 Feb) following a burglary at a suspected cannabis farm.

Officers were called to Oxford Road at just before 1.30 am to report of a house being broken into by a group wearing balaclavas and armed with weapons.

A number of cannabis plants were removed from the house and placed into a waiting car. As it sped off, it crashed into parked cars on the street.

The occupants fled the car and were arrested nearby on suspicion of aggravated burglary and criminal damage.

A 19-year-old man, two 15-year-old teenagers and three 17-year-old’s remain in police custody. They will be questioned later today.

A BB gun that looked like a handgun was also recovered. The drugs from the house will now be destroyed.
