From Monday (August 3), trade vans will be allowed back into the Tyseley Household Recycling Centre (HRC) via Energy Way with the Van Booking Centre re-opening for business.

Trade van bookings will need to be made following the original process by calling the Van Booking Centre on 0203 567 3915 (Monday to Friday from 8am-4pm). Businesses wishing to use the site will be charged a £78 fee to deposit waste at the site.

Vehicles up to 3,500kg are accepted on site. Time slots for firms wanting to take advantage of this service will be Monday to Friday (5am-7am, 11am-12pm and 2pm-7pm).

Visitors are reminded that social distancing measures remain in place and a limited number of slots will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. The re-introduction of trade vans will be reviewed regularly, as with other operations, to ensure there isn’t a risk of transmission of COVID-19 to both customers and Veolia staff.

Mark Powell, General Manager at Veolia, said: “We are pleased to be taking the next step forward to welcoming businesses to deposit their waste for a fee. Due to social distancing measures on site, we can only offer a limited number of slots to trade customers. Please bear in mind that our key workers are working extremely hard to ensure vans are booked in a timely manner in order to manage visits safely on site and are unable to offer slots outside of these times.”

Cllr John O’Shea, Cabinet Member for Street Scene and Parks, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for businesses to dispose of their waste safely and responsibly. This is the latest step in restoring the services that were available before the coronavirus pandemic led to the lockdown and we look forward to welcoming trade vans back to Tyseley.”
