Two people charged with Alum Rock disorder

Police have charged two people in connection with a disorder, which occurred in Alum Rock in July.

Officers were called to reports of a disorder on Alum Rock Road at around 3.15am on 1 July, with witnesses reporting that gunshots were fired.

Wasim Akeel, from Birmingham has been charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. Farhat Saleem, from Maidenhead, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and with assisting an offender.

The 29-year-olds appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court today (5 October). Akeel has been remanded in custody and Saleem has been released on bail. Both will appear before Birmingham Crown Court on 2 November 2023.
