A Birmingham man who was wanted for almost five years has been put back behind bars.

Santosh White had been wanted on recall to prison since July 2019 when the 34-year-old was arrested on Wednesday (10 Apr) at an address in Broad Lane, Bloxwich.

White, 34, was charged with being unlawfully at large and appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Thursday (11 April), where he was sentenced to one year in prison.

He was released from prison in 2019 after he was previously sentenced for grievous bodily harm. But after not adhering to his licence conditions, White was recalled.

However, he went on the run and had been at large since. He was finally brought to justice following extensive work from officers.

White was sentenced to a total of 12 months, which includes the remainder of his initial sentence, and then an additional four months for being unlawfully at large.
