A woman who stole her ex-partner’s car after luring him into a savage street attack has been jailed.

Melissa Parkes joined two men in attacking the victim with a hammer in Stechford last September. Parkes and her former partner were in his car when another vehicle pulled up behind them.

She got out of the car to talk to the occupants and the victim, not knowing what was going on, also got out of the vehicle.

Two men got out of the car and along with Parkes assaulted the victim. He was attacked with a hammer and after falling to the floor, Parkes continued to kick and punch him.

Parkes took the victim’s car and left the victim seriously injured in the middle of the street.

Fortunately, members of the public came to his aide.

An investigation was launched and Parkes was identified and arrested.

The 34-year-old of Steel Grove, Birmingham was found guilty of robbery and at Birmingham Crown Court this week was sentenced to four years and seven months in prison.

Detective Sergeant James Evans from the Public Protection Unit, said: “Parkes took advantage of the victim and lured him to a place where he was robbed and repeatedly assaulted.

“He was fortunate to not have been even more seriously injured. Parkes showed no remorse and continued to lie about what happened and even tried to blame the victim.

“I hope this sentence shows that we will leave no stone unturned in getting justice for victims.”
