Birmingham local mosque (Dawat-e-Islami UK) is an Islamic charity helping to improve the society and characters of the public in UK. With ninety-five plus centers nationally, nine thousand plus centers internationally, and hundreds of
millions of followers on a global scale, Dawat-e-Islami is the leading Islamic charity delivering FREE exhibitions and workshops on current hot-topic issues within the society and helping to make a positive
change.

A recent demographical opinion has seen a surge in the supply and wrongful recreational use of nitrous oxide also known as ‘laughing gas.’

After conducting numerous surveys, one conclusion was drawn the young people in our societies wrongfully use nitrous oxide without having any knowledge of the consequences it can cause, whereas another conclusion shows that

90% of adults and parents are not aware of nitrous oxide and the immense wrongful usage of it in their own societies.

One neuron specialist who has voiced his concerns over the wrongful usage of nitrous oxide has said he himself has seen an increase in the number of patients visiting his surgery with symptoms of bad health due to the wrongful use of laughing gas.

To raise awareness and help prevent the wrongful use of nitrous oxide, Dawat-e-Islami UK, in the Midlands region has organized exhibitions and informative workshops highlighting using nitrous oxide wrongfully as a serious issue within local societies. Within these events, young people were and are taught by qualified youth workers about the negative impacts and issues of taking nitrous oxide as well as hearing about real-life cases of individuals who have been negatively affected by laughing gas. During these events, delegations from the local West Midlands police, council officials, medical experts, community respected youth mentors and the police and crime commissioners’ team attended and presented their first-hand experiences of young people abusively taking in nitrous oxide.

As Dawat-e-Islami UK is branched out in every major city in the UK, in West Midlands alone we have thousands of people attend the weekly speeches with hundreds more at ongoing regular lectures. Dawat-e-Islami UK created mass awareness of this issue within a short period of time.

An advantage that is being positively publicized is the use of the charities’ own TV channel (Madani Channel on SKY) which broadcasted a program to raise awareness about this issue.

As this is still an ongoing initiative, several success stories have come to light including young people coming forward and mentioning their wrongful usage of nitrous oxide and expressing their sincere intentions of abandoning this habit after hearing the impact this gas has on the body. Also, due to the Friday Sermons and lectures, many parents/adults have thanked Dawat-e-Islami UK for creating exposure of this major issue
and educating them about the wrongful use of nitrous oxide. In conclusion, Dawat-e-Islami UK is predicting a much-needed positive reform in societies and hopes to see a decrease in the wrongful use of
nitrous oxide after organizing these exhibitions and workshops.

Dawat-e-Islami UK is dedicated to exposing this issue to the masses and is publicizing the need for similar-organized workshops to tackle this issue on a mass scale.
