An elderly man who died after he was hit by a car in High Street, Rowley Regis on Saturday (5 Sept) afternoon has been named as Harry Williams.

Mr Williams’ family has joined investigators in appealing for any witnesses to the fatal incident at about at 2.25pm, to get in contact with us.

The 80-year-old was treated at the scene for a head injury but after being taken to hospital by paramedics, later sadly died there the following day (Sunday).

His family, who have asked us to release an image of Mr Williams, said they have been left “devastated by the sudden loss of Harry and need to understand what happened”.

And they are asking anyone with any information or CCTV footage to contact investigators. They are also requesting that their privacy be respected at this dreadful time.

Sgt Julie Lyman, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Williams’ family and friends, and our focus is on establishing exactly what happened.

“The driver of the car, a black Mercedes, remained at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.

“As our investigations continue, we’d also ask anyone who was in the area at around the time of the collision and has any information, CCTV or dash cam footage, to contact us.”
