Police Conduct Successful Taxi Safety Checks with Councils in Birmingham and Wolverhampton

West Midlands Police teamed up with local councils to conduct taxi licensing and safety checks in Birmingham and Wolverhampton last night.

A total of 90 taxis were stopped during the operation, with only four being immediately prohibited for safety reasons. Ten had correctable issues,

while the majority were found to be safe and compliant, which is a positive outcome for public safety.

In a statement, West Midlands Police confirmed that each council had paid for officers to work overtime for the operation, and they were pleased to see that standards were being maintained. The successful checks underscore the importance of ongoing collaboration between police and councils for the safety of the public, and such joint operations are expected to continue.
