A man who was found dead at a house in Handsworth last weekend has been named as Hassan Ghafar.

The 22-year-old was discovered with serious injuries in Holly Road on Sunday morning (7 February).

A post mortem has revealed Mr Ghafar, from Birmingham, died as a result of stab wounds to the neck.

A 33-year-old man has been charged with his murder and was remanded into custody after appearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Stuart Mobberley, from our homicide unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Ghafar at this deeply distressing time.

“We’re doing what we can to support them during these early stages of grief.

“Although we’ve charged a man in connection with Mr Ghafar’s murder we’re still keen to hear from anyone with information which can assist our ongoing enquiries.”
