A man on a mobility scooter who was injured in a collision with a car in Alcester Road South, Brandwood, has died.

Mervyn Holbrook, aged 69, was cared for by passers-by and treated by paramedics after the collision yesterday afternoon (Thursday 16 June) but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family, who are being supported by our specialist officers, have today paid tribute to him and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The collision was around 2.30pm near the junction with Livingstone Road and the driver of the car, who remained at the scene, is helping us with our enquiries.

Mervyn’s family have said that they are shocked and devastated by his untimely loss.

The family are aware that members of the public assisted Mervyn and have expressed their thanks for the care and compassion shown.

They ask for their privacy to be respected at this sad time and for anyone who witnessed the collision, or has CCTV or dash cam footage that may assist the investigation, to contact the police as soon as possible.

Sgt Julie Lyman, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mervyn’s family and we are focussed on establishing what has happened.

“I’d ask anyone who saw the collision or was driving in the area at the time and has dash cam footage, to get in contact with us.”
