Police have arrested a suspected car criminal in connection with a spate of stolen car parts over the last two months.
Bonnets, bumpers, Sat Navs, and other items have been stolen from cars in the Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, and Kitts Green areas in Birmingham.
On 4 January, officers arrested a 20-year-old man for dangerous driving, going equipped, and three counts of theft from a vehicle. He has been bailed pending further inquiries.
It comes after a Citroen failed to stop for officers and was driven the wrong way around a roundabout as it sped away from the scene.
The National Police Air Service helped locate the car, which had several tools and bolts from other vehicles inside.
Police have also been working with Staffordshire Police and CMPG to tackle vehicle crime. They charged four men with vehicle theft after a black Hyundai was stopped in Sutton Coldfield on 19 January.
Meanwhile, officers have charged a man with burglary just one month after a home was broken into in Erdington.
Officers acted swiftly after bank cards stolen from the property on 3 December were used a short time later.
The local neighborhood policing unit attended the address the same day and the job quickly took place, with the Local Offender Management Unit and Force CID assisting in the investigation.
Patrick Gallon, age 40, of Slade Road, Erdington was charged with burglary and fraud by false representation on 16 January.
Yesterday (23rd January) at Birmingham Crown Court he pleaded guilty to burglary and three counts of fraud and was remanded into custody to be sentenced on Friday (27th January).
Sergeant Frances Clark, from the Sutton and Erdington neighbourhood policing team, said: “We’ve been listening to residents, families and locals and know vehicle crime and burglary are problems for people in the area.
“Our neighbourhood officers have been dealing with issues that you tell us are important for us to deal with.
“A number of stolen vehicles have been recovered by the neighbourhood teams in the last few months.
“We’ll continue to work with other police departments/units and partner agencies to help prevent crime, offer reassurance to our communities and bring about swift results.”
