Police have charged a seventh person with conspiring to kill a man who was shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Birmingham last year.

Wasim Hussain, from Gerrard Street in Lozells, was charged on Friday (7 August) with conspiring to murder Dante Mullings in Ladywood on 7 May 2019.

The 27-year-old was also charged with one count of possessing a gun with intent to endanger life when he appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday (8 August). He’s been remanded in custody.

Dante Mullings was one of three men in a car parked in St Vincent Street West, Ladywood, when a vehicle pulled up alongside and fired shots.

The 23-year-old suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other men were also injured.

Six men − including teenagers aged 16 and 17 − have previously been charged over the murder plot and were standing trial earlier this year.

However, the case was abandoned due to the CoVID-19 outbreak and the trial is set start again later in the year.
