The officer had approached a suspicious vehicle at around 8pm and as he looked into an open window to speak to the driver it made off.

The Pc was pushed out of the moving vehicle as the Seat Ibiza fled the area. He suffered cuts to his legs, arm and hips but was fortunately not seriously injured.

We want to speak to 25-year-old Banaras, from Tyseley, in connection with what happened.

Inspector Francis Nock said: “It’s unacceptable for this to happen to a police officer as he goes about his role in keeping the public safe.

“It could have been much worse and we need anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.”
