Police arrested two men after a suspected stolen car was spotted on Coventry Road, Birmingham at around 5.30 pm yesterday (22 August).

A report had come into us earlier that day that a car matching the same description was seen with a machete on board.

Officers tried to stop the Hyundai, but the driver failed to stop. With the help of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) officers pursued the vehicle for over an hour before a stinger was deployed and brought the car to a stop.

The men attempted to run from the car on Coventry Road but they were quickly arrested.

A machete was recovered and the car, which was displaying false plates, is believed to have been stolen from a property in Solihull last December.

The men, aged 19 and 22, remain in custody on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a knife.
