Police found two teenagers hiding in a garden – one underneath a trampoline and other in a shed – after people fled from a cloned vehicle officers pursued.

Police spotted the Seat Leon, believed to be linked to a series of car part thefts, just before 2am today and it was followed along Garretts Green Lane, Birmingham.

It was tracked with the help of National Police Air Service (NPAS) to Rudyngfield Drive where three people were seen to jump out.

An 18-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and theft from a motor vehicle.

A 17-year-old found in a garden shed in Flaxley Road was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle; while an 18-year-old was detained from underneath a trampoline for theft from a vehicle.

Police also responded after a Vauxhall Insignia, reported stolen yesterday afternoon, was seen on the M6 in Birmingham.

It hit speeds of around 100mph while being pursued and rammed into police cars in the get-away attempt. An officer suffered injures which were not serious.

Police managed to sting the vehicle and it came to a halt on the Broadway, Walsall, at around midnight.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, dangerous and drink driving; with a 47-year-old man detained over theft.

All remain in police custody for questioning today.
