Bashir Mohamed murder: Tributes to ‘strong pillar of community’ as second man charged with killing

The family of a man who was stabbed to death in Ladywood have paid tribute to him as a ‘strong pillar of the community’, as detectives charged a second man with his murder.

Bashir Mohamed, 26, was found critically injured in Shyltons Croft, Ladywood, just before 4.20am on 22 April.

He sadly died at the scene from a stab wound to his arm.

Today his family described him as a “devoted son, loving uncle and affectionate brother who was loved and cherished by all”.

“A bubbly, warm-hearted and selfless individual with a beaming smile and captivating presence.

“A strong pillar of the community. This heart-rending news has shook the city of Birmingham.”

This evening detectives charged Kasim Ifzaal, 26, of Ombersley Road, Sparkbrook, with his murder.

Ifzaal was arrested in Dover yesterday, and was remanded in custody to appear before Birmingham magistrates tomorrow (Wednesday).

Mohib Tasharat, 24, of Wenlock Road, Birmingham, has also been charged with murder and remanded in custody.

Three other men have been arrested and released on bail in connection with the investigation, and detectives still want to hear from anyone with information.
