Police have arrested eight people and recovered weapons after launching an investigation into disorder in West Bromwich town centre.

Officers responded to reports of armed young people clashing in the High Street around 4.10pm yesterday (7 October).

They fled but Police stopped a Ford Fiesta nearby and recovered a number of knives, including combat and zombie style knives, from the vehicle.

Officers arrested four men, three aged 18 and a 19-year-old on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. An 18-year-old woman was detained over violent disorder.

Following quick-time enquiries Police identified a second car which was believed to linked to the disorder. It was stopped in Claypit Lane, West Bromwich, less than 45 minutes later.

A 20-year-old woman and two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. They all remain in police custody.
