McDonald’s UK will be contributing to the charity’s Emergency Essentials Grant

This Thursday, BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief, will be coming together for the very first time for a special night of television The Big Night In, to celebrate and reward those doing great things in the community.

As part of this, McDonald’s is contributing to the Emergency Essentials Grant, which will help those most vulnerable during the COVID-19 outbreak. This funding will not only provide vital emergency support to ensure vulnerable people of all ages are safe, warm and fed, but will also ensure that they are able to continue to learn, and stay connected in order to combat isolation and loneliness.

Alongside this, whilst restaurants remain closed, McDonald’s continues to donate food to key workers and vulnerable people through foodbanks and charities including FareShare, Company Shop and Food Drop. So far, over 300 tonnes of food and more than 100,000 litres of milk has been distributed.

For families who have a child with severe special needs, dinnertime can be extremely difficult. For many children, the familiarity of the Happy Meal box is an important part of their routine. Following a number of contacts from families in need, McDonald’s teamed up with the National Autistic Society to provide packaging to over 450 families, as well as hosting a downloadable PDF online.

Tune in on Thursday 23rd April at 7pm on BBC1 or via BBC iPlayer to see more of what McDonald’s has been up to in the community.
