This is the moment a Porsche driver tries to outrun our traffic officers in a 112mph pursuit through parts of the Black Country.

John Field failed to stop for officers when they spotted him on Blackacre Road, Dudley.

Field, who was serving a driving ban at the time, hit around 112mph on a 40mph stretch of Duncan Edwards Way and went through red lights at 60mph.

The Porsche’s tyres were stung but he managed to carry on and eventually hit 45mph on the wrong side of the Thorns Road dual carriageway.

He eventually gave up and abandoned the Porsche on Amblecote Road, where he was arrested after a brief struggle.

Field, aged 30, of Summerfield Road, Dudley, admitted dangerous driving and disqualified driving following the three-mile pursuit, on the evening of 7 April last year.

He was jailed for 16 months at Wolverhampton Crown Court last Monday (17 May), but has now been released after serving his sentence on remand.

PC Dan Lynas, from our Traffic department, was one of the officers who pursued Field.

He said: “This was really dangerous driving through main roads, at really high speeds. This happened early in the first lockdown, and a time when most people were staying at home to save lives, Field was going out and risking others.”
