Appeal after man dies in a collision in Nechells

Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Nechells last night (31 October).

Officers were called to Duddeston Manor Road just after 6pm following reports a pedestrian was struck by a car.

The man, aged 54, suffered serious injuries and sadly died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and driving whilst under the influence of drugs.

PC Paul Du Cros from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit , said: “Our thoughts remain with the family who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.

“We want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone with dashcam footage who hasn’t yet got in touch.”
