Police have arrested five people and taken a series of potentially deadly weapons off our streets as officers continue to crack down on violent crime in Birmingham.

Police conducted a firearms warrant at a house in Small Heath yesterday (16 July).

Three men, aged 39, 36 and 34, and two women aged, 42 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms. Three have been released pending further investigation and two remain in our custody.

A sub-machine gun, shotgun and two pistols were recovered, they have been taken off our streets and seized for forensic opportunities.

A sawn-off shotgun was also recovered in Ladywood last night. Enquiries are under way.

Our priority is to protect members of our communities from people who carry weapons or commit crime.
