Detectives investigating a collision on Boxing Day in which a mother and daughter sadly died,

Police are appealing for further witnesses to come forward.

At around 8pm on Tuesday 26 December, 2023, officers were called to the junction of Kitts Green Road and Mackadown Lane in Kitts Green, following the collision.

A BMW 4 Series, a MG ZS and a quad bike were said to have been involved in the crash. Tragically, Linda Philips and Amanda Riley, passengers from the MG, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is an extremely tragic set of circumstances which has left a family devastated.

“We are piecing together the circumstances of that evening but I still need the help of the public in order to get the family the answers that they deserve.

“I now believe that the BMW 4 Series and the quad bike were both involved in a collision prior to the BMW colliding with the MG.

“The driver of the BMW and the rider of the quad bike then both left the scene, prior to the arrival of police, and they were assisted in doing so by others. The quad bike was also removed from the scene.

“I do not know the reason for this, and it may be that those people did not know the full extent of the collision at that time, but they do now.

“I would appeal directly to the driver and rider, the people who assisted them, or any friends or family to come forward now, and do the right thing by this family.

“I would also like to appeal to anyone who was at the junction that night who hasn’t already spoken to us, to make contact.

“Do not assume we know any information you may hold. Every little piece helps.”
